Fisher Cat Creek Forest Retreat
In 2009, David and Veronica began designing and building structures in the 20 acre hardwood forest that Davids' father acquired back in 1969. Now they live there full time in an off-grid cabin with a cabin & campsites for rent and a passion for sharing the wonders of the forest. David's book Forth to Basics is about this journey. check availability and reserve your stay at airbnb (search Fisher Cat Creek)

"Our family (3) recently spent 2 nights. I knew when we entered I was going to enjoy my stay. It’s very welcoming with the well placed wood and metal sculptures throughout the grounds. The craftsmanship of the cabin, sauna/shower and outhouse is incredible.
We arrived on a hot, humid evening. It was considerably cooler in the cabin. relief. The space is extremely well thought out. I really appreciated the ample counter and storage space and the many places to hang things.
The lovely custom molded staircase is very steep with very narrow steps. I had no problem navigating it with the beyond sturdy railings, but it’s worth mentioning.
The communication we had with Dave was spotless. We asked if we could get more water to take an outdoor shower. He responded quickly and delivered water. The owners live farther back on the lot but we never heard a peep from them our entire stay.
You’re getting a one-of-kind experience surrounded with nature, great art and hosts and architecture".

"Just stayed over for a short night in between driving days, but it was a cozy place to stay, looked like a cool place to explore further had we the time. The fireplace and comfy couch in front of it was lovely, great way to put the baby to bed and decompress from driving all day. It rained that night and morning and the pitter patter on the roof coupled with the cool breeze passing through the house was icing on the cake. We forgot our headlamps, but there were lanterns for use inside which was plenty illumination for what we needed to do to get tucked away for the night. Truly a combination of camping (no running water or electric, outhouse) and home amenities (comfy bed, wood burning stove, couch, screened in porch)... thanks for the experience, you've built an impressive oasis!"
