Mr. Welder Goes To Washington

Got back home late July 22nd after a brutally hot day of trains, planes and walking in dress shoes. My state rep, Derrick Van Orden was a no-show but 5 of us met with his Chief O' Staff. I heard that no-shows are common in the House of Reps. Not sure how to think about that.

After 40 years of tracking and explaining climate change, I'm inspired by the turnout of 800-ish CCL (Citizens Climate Lobby) folks from around the country. I no longer feel like the "Lone Ranger" and see potential for progress. This looming problem is not going away and even the army of 1000+ (paid) fossil fuel company lobbyists can't hold back the inevitable tide of science and truth. Not with good and smart people pulling for science, sanity and solutions.

Despite the heat and hassles, I’m glad I went and happy to know I’m not alone… and not crazy.
